Johnson - http://vjohnsonperceptions.com http://northgwinnettarts.com/?p=454 On March 31 & April 1, the North Gwinnett Arts Association, Inc., will host the 3rd Biannual Plein Air Event. “Plein Air” is a French term that means painting in the open air, working directly from the landscape/cityscape as it appears at that moment. We plan to expand this concept by inviting artists of different mediums to participate – photographers, sculptors, and mixed media artists. If you derive inspiration from the open environment surrounding you, creating your artwork in the open air, then you can participate!

All participating artists will work for two days throughout the parks, Town Center, and historic areas within the City of Suwanee. The Plein Air Event will culminate on Sunday evening, April 1st, with a 6-8 pm reception, exhibit and sale of the artists’ work.
Artists will work at locations of their choice throughout the city, making use of their unique styles in pursuit of the common goal of capturing scenes as quickly as possible before the movements of sun and clouds alter the lighting and colors of the view. Visitors are able to watch the artists at work.

Our guest speaker, Patty Wessels will be speaking on new opportunities to market your artwork! Join us as Patty explains a new initiative involving the NGAA to market, rent and sell artwork to area businesses, individual purchasers and collectors. Patty’s program targets specific businesses and individuals with interests in art. The program spotlights local artists with the goals of providing quality artwork to these businesses and individuals, generating revenue for artists and furthering the network between artists and purchasers of their work.

2012 is going to be an exciting year! All members are encouraged to attend meetings, learn about our goals and get involved to ensure success for the NGAA and each artist member, Be sure to mark your calendar for our January 26th meeting!

We will have a load-in on Saturday afternoon, January 14th. If you are participating but cannot get your artwork to the Open Studio on Saturday, you must let me know so that we can get access to the Aurora on Monday the 16th. Volunteers are needed to help lay out and hang the exhibit. Please let Alan know either by phone at 678-469-1495 or in person on Saturday that you will be able to help. Be prepared to list your artwork that you are bringing and fill out cards to be placed next to the artwork on the walls.

Participating artists will also have the opportunity to have a reception at the theatre. The best time is on a Saturday afternoon, between performances. The available Saturdays are January 28th and February 4th. The Friday immediately preceding those two dates would also be available in the event neither Saturday works. Please let Alan know which date or dates will work for you and we will choose the one acceptable to the majority.
